This large London-based high school needed an updated IT network to support a growing number of connected devices, cloud-based platforms, and digital learning resources. Their existing setup was no longer stable enough to support day-to-day operations across a busy school environment.
Services Provided
- Core Network upgrade
- Switch replacement
- Fibre backbone installation
The Challange
The high school’s core network was running on outdated HP switches, which had become increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain. Frequent performance issues and the growing risk of outages were putting strain on staff and creating potential for classroom disruption. They wanted to retain their investment in HP hardware but needed a faster, more reliable, and more resilient solution, without significant downtime during term time.
Our Solution
We designed a new network architecture centred around HP Aruba 6900 Series switches, selected for their high performance and long-term viability. Two core switches were deployed in separate areas of the campus for geographic redundancy and fault isolation. These were connected via high-speed 25GbE uplinks, creating a reliable backbone for the school’s IT infrastructure.
To further strengthen the network, we installed new OM4 fibre cabling across the campus. All edge switches and distribution points were connected back to the core at 10GbE, eliminating old single points of failure and significantly increasing throughput.
The network was designed with scalability in mind, supporting new technologies, increased device loads, and future growth with minimal additional investment.
The Result
- Improved Stability: The school now operates on a reliable and resilient core network.
- Faster Connectivity: 10–25GbE links have dramatically improved network speeds.
- Reduced Risk: Dual-core design and fibre links have eliminated single points of failure.
- Future-Ready: The infrastructure is now in place to confidently support upcoming IT demands.
Why They Chose Confidence IT
The school chose us for our ability to deliver a technically sound solution that does not disrupt day-to-day activities. Our team worked closely with their internal IT staff to plan and stage the rollout during quieter periods. We offered a vendor-aligned solution that protected their existing investment in HP while delivering a modern, scalable infrastructure, on time and within budget.
